Safety and Responsible Use

Mobile EV rescue charging is safe when it is done carefully. These points are a summary, not a replacement for the manuals.

Start with the manual, then check the vehicle

Read the EVroadHERO owner’s manual and quick-start guide before first use. Before you charge a vehicle, check its charging guidance (owner’s manual, charge-port label or the manufacturer’s roadside guidance) for anything that rules out or limits charging with portable equipment. If it says not to charge it this way, or you are unsure, do not charge it. Call the manufacturer or use another method.

Before every charge

Look over the equipment, cables, plug and adapters. Do not use anything that is cracked, frayed, burned, wet, bent or otherwise damaged. Look at the vehicle and its charge port. Do not charge a vehicle that shows damage, a crash, leaks, smoke, swelling, burning smells or warning messages about the battery or charging system.

Engine exhaust and fuel

Equipment with an engine produces carbon monoxide, a poisonous gas you cannot see or smell. Run it only outdoors, away from windows, doors and vents, and never in a garage, tunnel or other enclosed space. Handle and store fuel as your local rules and the manual require. Let the engine cool before refueling, and keep sparks and flames away.

Electrical safety

Keep connectors dry and clean. Do not use the equipment in standing water or heavy rain unless the manual says it is rated for that. Never open the equipment or modify it. Disconnect as the manual describes, and never pull on cables.

On the roadside

Park and work away from traffic where you can, use proper warning devices and visibility gear, and follow your company’s procedures and local laws. Keep bystanders and children away from the equipment and the vehicle.

Train everyone who uses it

Anyone who uses the equipment for you should be trained and should have read the manuals. You are responsible for their use.

If something goes wrong

Stop charging. If there is smoke, fire, a burning smell or someone is hurt, move people away and call 911. Then contact us at 203-710-9300 or RSledje@EVroadHERO.com.

Read the terms

By buying or using EVroadHERO equipment you agree to our Terms of Sale and Use, which include your responsibilities, risks you accept and limits on our liability.
